Notizen: A high resolution, liquid-displacement apparatus for monitoring salivary flow is described, and details of its construction from standard laboratory items are provided. The results of a quantitative evaluation indicate: (1) sensitivity to variations in intraglandular pressure of less than 1 mm Hg; (2) instrument time lag of less than 500 msec; and (3) resolution of 0.003 ml. A comparison with previously described liquid-displacement sialometers indicates an increase in resolution by a factor of 3.
