Pentaalkylcyclopentaphosphane Monoxides, (PR)5O (R = Me, Et) - Preparation and Structure Determination by 31P-NMR SpectroscopyThe cyclopentaphosphane monoxides (PMe)5O (1) and (PEt)5O (2) are formed by reacting the pentaalkylcyclopentaphosphanes (PR)5 (R = Me, Et) with dry atmospheric oxygen under proper conditions. Whereas 1 is rather decomposable and therefore cannot be obtained in pure form, the more stable compound 2 could be isolated by high pressure liquid chromatography. According to the IR spectrum and the complete analysis of the 31P{1H}-NMR spectrum oxygen is bound exocyclically to the five-membered phosphorus ring. 2 exists as a mixture of two configurational isomers 2a and 2b, which differ in their relative arrangements of the ethyl substituents.
    Notes: Die Reaktion von Pentaalkyl-cyclopentaphosphanen (PR)5 (R = Me, Et) mit trockenem Luftsauerstoff führt unter geeigneten Bedingungen zur Bildung der Cyclopentaphosphan-monoxide (PMe)5O (1) und (PEt)5O (2). Während 1 sehr zersetzlich und daher nicht rein erhältlich ist, konnte die beständigere Verbindung 2 durch Hochdruckflüssigkeitschromatographie isoliert werden. Nach dem IR-Spektrum und der vollständigen Analyse des 31P{1H}-NMR-Spektrums ist der Sauerstoff exocyclisch an den Phosphor-Fünfring gebunden. 2 liegt als Gemisch aus zwei Konfigurationsisomeren 2a und 2b vor, die sich in der räumlichen Anordnung der Ethylsubstituenten zueinander unterscheiden.
