This article presents a new structure of monopole field on the basis of the method for obtaining ideal quadrupole fields within closed boundaries to which is applied a continuously varied potential with position. Further optimum design is made according to a large number of computations of boundary potentials by using the finite element method, and three sets of structures, termed as A-1, B-1, and B-2 type, respectively, are proposed. The agreement of the results obtained by a field-plotting method with those of the analysis is satisfactory.
