: This is a review of four vaginal and cervical infections that may be associated with prematurity, premature rupture of the membranes, or low birthweight. Urea-plasma urealyticum, group B streptococcus, Chlamydia trachomatis, and anaerobic vaginosis are discussed, along with other data regarding intrauterine infection as a cause of prematurity.
