Notes: Abstract The absorption coefficientsμ el andμ unel for fast electrons (30–50 keV) due to elastic and inelastic scattering in polycrystalline foils of Al, Ag and Au have been measured at various temperatures between 160 and 600 °K. It is shown that,μ unel decreases only slightly with temperature. On the other hand, the absorption coefficientμ el, which is composed ofμ R for Laue Bragg scattering andμ TDS for thermal diffuse scattering increases with temperature. Asμ R andμ TDS depend on temperature in opposite sense, the resulting increase ofμ el=μ R+μ TDS with temperature depends on the extent, to which the temperature dependence ofμ R is reduced by dynamical extinction effects. For Al the measured temperature dependence ofμ el is in good agreement with the theoretical calculation ofμ TDS on the basis of the Einstein model and ofμ R according to the two beam approximation of the dynamical theory. For Ag and Au the temperature dependence ofμ el is much more pronounced than for Al. This is due to the facts that for heavy elements firstly the elastic scattering is stronger and secondly dynamical extinction effects are generally more pronounced. In order to study the influence of dynamical extinction, the crystal size of the foils was varied.

Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Es wurden Blutproben von 94 erwachsenen Rindern, 63 Kälbern, 101 Schweinen, 92 Pferden, 64 Schafen, 109 Hunden, 93 Meerschweinchen, 122 Goldhamstern, 91 Ratten, 80 weißen Mäusen und 21 Kaninchen auf das Vorhandensein hämagglutinationshemmender Antikörper gegen die Parainfluenzaviren Typ 1 (Sendaivirus), Typ 2 (CA-Virus) und Typ 3 (Hämadsorptionsvirus 1) untersucht.
Notes: Summary Blood samples of various species of animals were examined for the presence of hämagglutination-inhibiting antibodies against myxoviruses parainfluenza 1 (Sendai virus), parainfluenza 2 (CA-virus) and parainfluenza 3 (HA 1-virus). Most frequently antibodies were found in bovines; less frequently in horses and dogs, and only sporadically in sheep, rabbits, hamsters, guinea-pigs and rats. Negative reactions occured in serums of pigs and mice. The levels of antibodies most frequently ranged from 1∶8 to 1∶32, rarely higher (to 1∶256).
