Description / Table of Contents: Summary Pregnant NMRI mice received DENA subcutaneously in doses of 80–240 mg/kg body weight. Their young were examined 8 to 12 months after birth, and these showed a significant increase in the occurrence of multiple pulmonary adenomas (after 8 months from 5–34%, after 12 months from 10–63%). The transplacental passage of the DENA apparently accelerated the latent potentiality for the formation of pulmonary adenomas. In these young born of mothers treated with DENA during pregnancy there were five benign hepatomas and one malignant hepatic cell tumor.

Description / Table of Contents: Summary Adult golden hamsters were treated with Trenimon, Bayer E 39 or Sanamycin 18–20 days after transplantation of KG-13-plasmocytoma. Cytostatic treatment had no effect on survival time. Treatment with Bayer E 39 or Sanamycin showed involution of tumors and normalisation of blood proteins. Trenimon treatment had no effect on tumor growth and blood proteins; there was no difference between the Trenimon-group and untreated controls.

Notes: [Auszug] TISSUE-SPECIFIC anti-mitotic substances, now known as chalones1, have been extracted from a number of tissues, and especially well known are the epidermal and granule -cytic chalones2'3. Although it is tissue-specific the epidermal chalone is not species-specific4. The various chalones evidently ...

Description / Table of Contents: Summary Pregnant gold hamsters received di-ethylnitrosamine (NÄNA) subcutaneously (2–14 mg; daily dose 2 mg) in the second half of gestation. Twenty-five weeks after birth of the litter multiple tracheal papillomata were found in 42% of the young. In addition, a diffuse squamous epithelial cell metaplasia was disclosed in the region of the tracheobronchial tree. A hepatotoxic effect (cirrhosis) was observed 25 weeks after birth in 68% of the young. DÄNA, therefore, crossed the placenta in the fetuses.

Notes: Summary An aspect of disease similar to toxemia was developed by treatment of rats with alloxan during pregnancy. In this experimental modell the following results are found: 1. 36 rats treated with alloxan before the fertilization were barren except of one animal (out of a group, to which insulin was applicated). 2. The number of abortion and resorption of placenta and embryo had highly increased. 3. The fetal weights of alloxan treated pregnant rats had decreased. 4. After birth there was found no glucosemia in the survived young animals. 5. Protein fractions of the amniotic fluid showed different values in comparison with those of untreated mothers.
