Notes: [Auszug] The first two weeks in the life of the boll were an 'intensive period' of development both in size and green weight. In this period alone, more than 80 per cent of size and green weight of the boll were formed in Ashmouni, Wafir and Maarad, and more than 70 per cent in Sakel. During the third ...

Notes: Abstract A central issue in the design of cooperative multiagent systems is how to coordinate the behavior of the agents to meet the goals of the designer. Traditionally, this had been accomplished by hand-coding the coordination strategies. However, this task is complex due to the interactions that can take place among agents. Recent work in the area has focused on how strategies can be learned. Yet, many of these systems suffer from convergence, complexity and performance problems. This paper presents a new approach for learning multiagent coordination strategies that addresses these issues. The effectiveness of the technique is demonstrated using a synthetic domain and the predator and prey pursuit problem.

Notes: Summary Nine lyophilized, five frozen, and one fresh BCG preparation from various sources were tested for their activity as adjuvants of systemic immunity in mice. Using three tests, the IgM response to sheep red blood cells, immunoprophylaxis of L1210 leukemia, and immunoprophylaxis of Lewis tumor, results consistent with both immunostimulation and immunodepression were observed, varying as a function of the BCG strain, its storage conditions, and the assay used. Only fresh Pasteur strain BCG was effective in all three tests; its activity was modified by lyophilization and by freezing. Possible reasons for the superiority of fresh Pasteur BCG as an adjuvant are discussed.

Notes: Summary A theoretical analysis is made of the flow of a Cosserat fluid in a curved pipe under a pressure gradient. It is assumed that the curvature of the pipe is small, that is the radius of the circle in which the central line of the pipe is coiled is large in comparison with the radius of the cross-section. Following Dean [2] a solution is developed by the method of successive approximation. The paths of the particles in the central plane and the projection of the streamlines on the cross-section of the pipe are compared with those of a Newtonian fluid. It is observed that in the theory of Cosserat fluids the curvature of the streamlines in the central plane increases and the motion is slower in the cross-section of the pipe. It is also shown that the rate of flow of a Cosserat fluid through a curved pipe is decreased due to the curvature of the pipe.

Notes: Summary The existence of a radial flow in convergent channels, as is observed in viscous fluids, is studied in the theory of Cosserat fluids. In general, it is observed that such a flow is not possible in a Cosserat fluid.

Notes: The conventional way of solving the group technology (GT) problem is to start from an assignment of parts to machines and try to find a partitioning of machine cells and part families. The similarity between parts is measured based on commonality of the machines assigned to them. However, parts are assigned to machines based on their operation requirements and the operation capabilities of machines. Similarity between parts should be based on their required operations. In this paper, the authors attempt to solve or facilitate solving the GT problem at the assignment level. An algorithm for assigning parts to machines is provided which utilizes the types of operations required by parts and applies GT principles in producing the assignment. This leads to better partitioning of machine cells and part-families. Furthermore, operation sequences required by parts in determining the similarity between parts have been considered. An algorithm to form part-families based on the operation sequence similarity coefficient has been developed. The resulting families are then used by the assignment algorithm to produce machine assignments to part-families. The use of the algorithm is demonstrated by examples.

Notes: Abstract This paper presents a multiagent task planning method for domains where agents (such as machines and robots) have disparate operational capabilities. The method extends the traditional planning for a solitary agent to handle multiple-agents through a number of novel concepts and planning approaches. The decomposition of the planning problem into subproblems is aimed at achieving plan execution concurrency, and it is based on the assignment of relations (objects may hold in the domain) to agents. A notion of a substate is used to model the plans and actions of the individual agents. To avoid interagent conflicts, interagent constraints provide the coordination between the concurrent actions of the agents and their interactions. Using the substates and the interagent constraints, a decentralised strategy is realised for generating and searching the space of alternative feasible subplans of agents. This strategy is illustrated tith a search space generated for an example problem. The paper also describes the structure of the system used to implement the approach and the concepts.
