Notes: Zusammenfassung 1.

Notes: Abstract Optical tomography is applied to the speckle photographic measurement of an asymmetric flow field with variable fluid density. The convolution back projection algorithm is used for obtaining the 3-D density distribution. Noise in the experimental data is reduced by spline smoothing. The method is verified with a steady, laminar, axisymmetric helium jet exhausting vertically into the ambient air, and then applied to a non-axisymmetric helium jet for determining the helium concentration. It is found that speckle photographic recordings are very adequate for tomographic reconstruction, because they provide a high number of data points from each projection. The influence of the limited number of projections on the reconstruction quality is particularly investigated.

Notes: Abstract A double-blind study was performed to test the metabolic effects of tricalcium phosphate (TP) and calcium carbonate (CC) on serum calcium (SCa), serum phosphorus (SP), and immunoreactive intact serum parathyroid hormone (SPTH) levels in two groups of 24 subjects. The mean age of young subjects was 29.5 years, and elderly subjects, 65.9 years. These subjects fasted overnight for 12 hours, but with good hydration, before the tests. Following a 2-hour baseline-urine collection, 1200 mg elemental calcium (as CC or TP in tablet form) was chewed and ingested and 2-hour postload urines were collected. Blood was drawn immediately before and at 1, 2, and 4 hours after calcium load. The results showed that SCa and SP increased, whereas SPTH decreased with both preparations. The increment of SCa was similar after oral load of either calcium salt in both groups. The increment of SP after TP load was more than after CC. The urinary calcium/creatinine ratio (UCa/Cr) increased significantly after both preparations in the young group. The urinary phosphorus/creatinine ratio (UP/Cr) did not change significantly following TP, but decreased significantly after CC load in the young subjects. However, in the elderly individuals, the UP/Cr increased after TP load but did not change following CC, with statistical significance. The difference of urinary cyclic adenosine monophosphate/creatinine ratio (UcAMP/Cr) was not significant in both groups with either preparation. In summary, there was a similar rise in SCa and an equivalent fall in SPTH between TP and CC, in both young and elderly individuals.

Notes: Abstract We study transonic flows along a nozzle based on a one-dimensional model. It is shown that flows along the expanding portion of the nozzle are stable. On the other hand, flows with standing shock waves along a contracting duct are dynamically unstable. This was conjectured by the author based on the study of noninteracting wave patterns. The author had shown earlier that supersonic and subsonic flows along a duct with various cross sections are stable. Basic to our analysis are estimates showing that shock waves tend to decelerate along an expanding duct and accelerate along a contracting duct.

Notes: For the application of STEP-NC in NC system, an STEP-NC code translator is exploited.Firstly, summarizes the limitation of conventional standard ISO6983 and the superiority ofSTEP-NC. After an analysis on two different generating methods of STEP-NC program, introducesthe exploited STEP-NC code translator based on ISO14649. According to inner logical relation, thecode translator is composed by six functional modules, an operating principle chart is presented, function and realizing method of every module is disserted on. At last, exampled with a programwhich includes planar face, pocket, slot, Bezier surface and replicate feature of round hole, planningthe whole toolpath of the program using extracted information about workingstep, feature andoperation by the exploited STEP-NC code translator. A cutting simulation is made to the toolpathand the workpiece model. The result proves the feasibility of the STEP-NC code translator

Notes: Summary In this prospective study, a series of 1812 consecutive mild head injured adult patients who visited the hospital emergency department were assessed. Twenty-eight patients (1.5%) deteriorated after head injury; 23 of these (1.3% of the series) required surgical intervention. Five patients (0.3%) deteriorated due to non-surgical causes [post-traumatic seizure 2, syndrome of inapproapriate secretion of antidiuretic hormone (SIADH) 3]. Most of the deterioration occurred within the first 24 hours (57%). Post-traumatic headache was found in 280 patients (15.5%) and 84 patients (4.6%) suffered post-traumatic vomiting. The relative risk is calculated. Age over 60, presence of drowsiness, focal motor weakness, post-traumatic headache and vomiting has increased risk of deterioration (p 〈 0.001). This study suggests that post-traumatic headache and vomiting deserve more clinical attention rather than being considered as post-traumatic syndrome only.
