Notizen: Summary  A Theoretical analysis is carried out to study the boundary-layer flow over a continuously moving surface through an otherwise quiescent micropolar fluid. The transformed boundary-layer equations are solved numerically for a power-law surface velocity using the Keller-box method. The effects of the micropolar K and exponent m parameters on the velocity and microrotation field as well as on the skin-friction group are discussed in a detailed manner. It is shown that there is a near-similarity solution of this problem. The accuracy of the present solution is also discussed.

Notizen: Abstract Boller's funnel and sieve apparatus for extracting phytoseiid mites (Acari: Phytoseiidae) from leaves was modified. The modification consisted of including a reservoir dish enabling the placing of the whole sample of leaves into the apparatus, attaching a collecting chamber, simplification of the fixing of the fine lower sieve and adding an upper fine sieve. This modification enables the rapid processing of samples of up to 150 leaves.

Notizen: Abstract This work reports the results obtained with the application of High Order Boltzmann Machines without hidden units to construct classifiers for some problems that represent different learning paradigms. The Boltzmann Machine weight updating algorithm remains the same even when some of the units can take values in a discrete set or in a continuous interval. The absence of hidden units and the restriction to classification problems allows for the estimation of the connection statistics, without the computational cost involved in the application of simulated annealing. In this setting, the learning process can be sped up several orders of magnitude with no appreciable loss of quality of the results obtained.
