Notes: Abstract Measurements of the enthalpy of mixing at 25°C for the hydrate system (ZnCl2+RH2O)−(LiCl+RH2O) are reported. A distinct maximum and a pronounced shoulder appears in the enthalpy of mixing data at mole fractions of XZnCl2=0.33 and 0.50, respectively, forR equal to about 4.

Notes: Abstract The enthalpies of crystallization of LiNO3 and LiNO3−3H2O from aqueous solutions at 25°C, measured by a calorimetric method and determined from the previously published data on the concentration dependence of the enthalpy of solution, are reported. The results are compared with the values obtained from the concentration dependences of the activity coefficients and from the temperature dependences of the solubilities. The enthalpy of solution at infinite dilution and the enthalpy of hydration are given.

Notes: Abstract The crystallization enthalpy of LiCl at 25°C in LiCl-H2O-cosolvent systems is determined calorimetrically as a function of the cosolvent content in the mixed solvent. This parameter is used for the investigation of heat phenomena accompanying the solvation of the salt in a saturated solution. The cosolvents employed include methanol, acetone, and N,N-dimethylformamide. The most pronounced change is effected by replacement of water with N,N-dimethylformamide.

Notes: Abstract The enthalpies of mixing measured for the systems x(ZnCl2+RH2O)-(1−x)(LiCl+RH2O) are reported. In contrast to the exothermic effects for R=4, the mixing processes at R=6 are considerably endothermic. For R=5, the sign of ΔH M depends on the composition. The mixing enthalpies of these hydrated melts are controlled by an endothermic step in the chlorocomplex formation of zinc and the exothermic hydration of lithium cations.

Notes: Abstract The crystallization enthalpies of MgCl2 in MgCl2−H2O-cosolvent systems at 25°C were determined calorimetrically as a function of the cosolvent content in the mixed solvent. Methanol, acetone, and N,N-dimethylformamide were employed as cosolvents. The results show the individual cosolvents to have very differently influences on the energy state of the salt in the saturated solution. The most pronounced changes are effected by an increase of the DMF content in the mixed solvent. The intensity of Mg2+-DMF interaction at a higher DMF content in the saturated solution considerably exceeds the Li+-DMF interaction in LiCl solutions.

Notes: Abstract Enthalpies of crystallization of NH4Al(SO4)2·12H2O from aqueous solutions at 25°C, measured using a calorimetric method and determined from previously published data on the concentration dependence of the enthalpy of solution, are reported. The results are compared with the values obtained from the temperature dependence of solubility and from vapor pressure data by using the Williamson equation. The integral and partial molar enthalpies of solution in concentrated and diluted solutions are given.
