    Notes: Zusammenfassung Bei der Berechnung des trans-Gehaltes in Ölen und Fetten werden reelle Ergebnisse erhalten, wenn die zur Untersuchung vorliegenden Proben vor der Messung in die Fettsäuremethylester übergeführt werden, während durch direkte Auswertung der Spektren von Fetten und Ölen wegen der durch Gerüstschwingungen des Glycerid-Moleklüs hervorgerufenen Absorption an der Stelle der trans-Bande zu hohe Werte erhalten werden. Da die Höhe dieser Bande von der Kettenlänge der veresterten Fettsäuren abhängt, führt eine Kompensation durch eine Glycerid-Mischung nur bei Berücksichtigung der qualitativen und quantitativen Fettsäure-Zusammensetzung der zu untersuchenden Probe zu genauen Ergebnissen.

    Notes: Abstract We determined the relation between length and tension in detached oblique muscles of 16 strabismus patients that underwent surgery, before and during contraction evoked by intravenous administration of succinylcholine. We frequently found a nonlinear relation between length and tension, unlike our previous findings in recti. In superior oblique palsies, the superior oblique was found, before injection of succinylcholine, to be stiff after elongation, and did not contract after injection of succinylcholine, while the ipsilateral inferior oblique contract after injection of succinylcholine, but with a higher spring constant than did usual. In 3 cases the superior oblique contracted vividly after administration of succinylcholine despite the presence of excyclotropia, stereopsis, torticollis (2 cases) and a hypertropia that increased in adduction, in downgaze, in adduction-and-downgaze and on ipsilateral head-tilt. The finding of a vividly contracting superior oblique is incompatible with the diagnosis of a complete superior oblique palsy. We conclude that some of the cases diagnosed as congenital superior oblique palsy, having a hypertropia increasing in adduction, in downgaze, in adduction-and-downgaze and on ipsilateral head-tilt, are in fact cases of unilateral strabismus sursoadductorius (upshoot in adduction), a non-paretic motility disorder.

    Notes: Abstract We present the final results from the search for μe pairs produced in neutrino interactions using the freon filled bubble chamber SKAT. The rate of μ− e + pairs to charged current events above the charm threshold is $$R_{\mu ^ - e^ + } = (4.8 \pm 1.1)10^{ - 3} $$ . Assuming charm particle production to be the origin of the positron we calculate $$R_{\Lambda _c^ + } = (6.2 \pm 3.1)10^{ - 2} $$ andR D =(2.8±0.9)10−2. We observe no considerable μ− e − pair production above the background. In the regionE v 〉3 GeV,p μ,e 〉1.0 GeV/c andp μ〉p e we find with a 90% confidence level the limit $$R_{\mu ^ - e^ - }〈 1.7 10^{ - 4} $$ .

    Notes: Abstract In the SKAT neutrino bubble chamber experiment at the Serpukhov accelerator we observe 83 events with electrons and no further lepton in the final state. Comparing the ratio of electron to muon charged current events at energies 3〈E v 〈30 GeV with that expected fromv e -beam background assuming lepton universality we find $$R = (N_{e^ - } /N_{\mu ^ - } )_{\exp } /(N_{e^ - } /N_{\mu ^ - } )_{calc} = 0.98 \pm 0.15$$ . Furthermore we compare experimental observations and theoretical expectations for some differential distributions of the electron-neutrino charged current reaction. No significant deviation from lepton universality is found. Looking in the charged current reaction for oscillations of muon to electron type neutrinos we find no effect down to the 90% confidence limits Δm 2 =1.3 eV2 at sin22θ=1 and sin22θ=2.5·10−3 at Δm 2=60 eV2.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung In dieser Arbeit werden, für eine geschlossene eigentlich konvexe Funktionf, Existenz und Eindeutigkeit eines minimierenden Vektors untersucht und frühere Resultate zu diesem Thema verallgemeinert. Für konvexe Funktionen mit zusätzlichen Eigenschaften werden notwendige und hinreichende Bedingungen für Existenz bzw. Eindeutigkeit angegeben. Fallsf sein Minimum inx annimmt, ohne daßx eindeutig ist, werden lineare Funktionend'x mit eindeutigen oder beschränkten Werten identifiziert. Die Anwendbarkeit der Resultate wird in der Regressionsanalyse von Lebensdauern, etwa mit dem Cox Modell, demonstriert.
    Notes: Abstract In this paper, theorems on existence and uniqueness of a vector minimizing a closed proper convex functionf are given, extending previous results on this topic. Necessary and sufficient conditions are presented for convex functions with additional properties. Iff attains its infimum atx withoutx being unique, linear functionsd'x with unique or bounded values are identified. Applicability of results is demonstrated in regression analysis of failure times, including the Cox model.

    Notes: Die Teilsynthese von 3-epi-Sarmentogenin aus Sarmentogenin wird beschrieben. Die Struktur der Glykoside C, E, G, L, M und R aus Gongronema gazense wird weitgehend abgeklärt. Sie besitzen folgende Zusammensetzung: C = Sarmentogenin-triscymarosid (VII), E = Sarmentogenin-bis-cymarosid (VIII), G = Sarmentogenin-biscymarosido-digitoxosid (X), L = Periplogenin-cymarosido-digitoxosid (XIII), M = Sarmentogenin-cymarosido-digitoxosid (XI) und R = Sarmentogenin-oleandrosidobis-digitoxosid (XVI). Durch partielle Hydrolyse von C liess sich E sowie das noch unbekannte Sarmentogenin-cymarosid (IX) gewinnen, aus G entstand analog M und das ebenfalls neue Sarmentogenin-digitoxosid (XII), aus L das bekannte Periplogenindigitoxosid (XIV) und aus R neben XI1 das nur papierchromatographisch nachgewiesene Sarmentogenin-bis-digitoxosid XVII.  -  In diesen Glykosiden sind die Zucker nur papierchromatographisch und durch Dünnschichtchromatographie identifiziert worden. Es ist demnach nicht bewiesen, ob D- oder I.-Formen vorliegen. Die Reihenfolge der Zucker ist gut gesichert, die Art der Verknüpfung derselben (α- oder β-glykosidisch, pyranosidisch oder furanosidisch) aber nur fur die Monoglykoside.

    Notes: The particle scattering factor P(ϑ) with Gaussian statistics for polydispersed systems has been treated. For a polystyrene sample with a sharp molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn 〈 1.02, Mw = 1.5 X 106), the measured angular dependence of scattered intensity indicates that the polymer coil does obey Gaussian statistics. This holds for a range of concentrations provided the variation of the constant representing the radius of gyration with concentration is adjusted.
