Summary A sensitive fluorimetric procedure for the determination of ethinyloestradiol is described. It uses the fluorescence obtained by the reaction of the steroid with anhydrous aluminium chloride. The optimum conditions have been determined by studying the rates of formation and decomposition of the fluorescing compounds. At a concentration of 2 μg/ml the relative standard deviation has been found to be 4%.

Zusammenfassung Es wird eine empfindliche Methode zur quantitativen fluorimetrischen Bestimmung von Äthinyloestradiol beschrieben. Sie basiert auf der Fluorescenz, die entsteht, wenn Äthinyloestradiol mit wasserfreiem Aluminiumchlorid umgesetzt wird. Die optimalen Arbeitsbedingungen wurden auf Grund der Bildungs- und Zerfallsgeschwindigkeiten der fluorescierenden Verbindungen ermittelt. Bei einer Konzentration von 2 μg/ml wurde eine relative Standardabweichung des Verfahrens von 4% gefunden.
