Notes:
Summary Following the administration of cyproterone to pseudopregnant rats, a gestagenic stimulation of the endogenous LH-releasing-function is observed. Testosterone-propionate and cyproterone in our dose are weak inhibitors of the hypothalamic releasing-function in ovarectomized rats. Simultaneous administration of testosterone and cyproterone compensates the antagonistic effect of both compounds on the hypophyseal LH-content; following testosterone treatment no different action of exogeneous releasing-factor occurs. Simultaneous injection of testosterone and cyproterone provokes additional steroidal blockade of the releasing-function; the gonadotropic activity of the anterior lobe decreases. This way cyproterone may inhibit androgenic sexual differentiation. No competitive androgen antagonism of cyproterone at the receptor organs was detected in the presented investigation.
