Description / Table of Contents: Abstract In a partially ordered ring, a set of iterative methods is constructed in order to approximate the inverse of a given element, not necessarily positive or inverse-positive. Two sequences are generated both converging to the inverse. In addition the inverse is monotonously enclosed. The method of order four has the maximal efficiency index.

    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract The conditional iterationx n+1 =sup (x n ,x n +x n (e−ax n )),y n−1 =inf (y n ,x n +y n (e−ax n )) generating sequences (x n ) and (y n ) is considered in partially ordered spaces. Under certain conditions it is shown, that the inversea −1 of a positive elementa≧0 is monotonously enclosed in the sensex n ≦x n+1 ≦a −1 ≦y n+1 ≦y n and that (x n ) and (y n ) converge toa −1 quadratically.

Notes: Abstract A solid conductor for Cu(I) was obtained by introducing Cu(I) into the high temperature form of AgI. The cationic transport number is practically one with negligible electronic conduction. The formula of the compound may be expressed by Ag(1−x)Cu x I withx varying with the temperature.

Notes: Summary Peptidases capable of releasing proline residues from polypeptides are present in the cytoplasmic fraction of rabbit polymorphonuclear granulocytes. This was shown with peptide substrates where proline is present either at the carboxy-terminal or within the polypeptide chain. Lysosomal and plasma membrane enzymes were inactive towards such polypeptides. The proline residue was hydrolyzed at either its amino end or its carboxy end. It is noteworthy that a Pro:Pro bond was cleaved both in the pentapeptide Thr-Lys-Pro-Pro-Arg and the dipeptide Pro:Pro.

Description / Table of Contents: Cyanonitrosylferrates and Cyanocarbonylnitrosylferrates of Low Oxidation StatesBy the reduction of sodium nitroprusside with alkali metals in liquid ammonia the cyanonitrosylferrates [Fe[CN]5, NO]3-, [Fe(CN)4, NO]2-, [Fe(CN)4N0]3- and [Fe(CN)3N0]4- are formed. Preparation and properties of these reduction products (Table 1) and of the cyanocarbonylnitrosylferrates still missing within the series [Fe(CN)n(CO)3-nNO](n+l)- (n = 1 and 2) are described. Structure and bonding of these complexes are discussed with respect to their magnetic properties and their i.r. spectra.
