Notes: Abstract Monodispersed copolymer microspheres consisting of styrene and glycidyl methacrylate have been prepared by dispersion polymerization. The effects of various polymerization parameters on the particle size and size distribution were systematically investigated. The initial solubility parameter of the system had a significant effect on the final particle size and size distribution. With decreasing initial solubility parameter, the particle size increased and the size distribution broadened. The particle size decreased with increasing stabilizer concentration, the amount of styrene in the monomer mixture, and decreasing initiator concentration.

Notes: Abstract  The morphology of the styrene and acrylamide copolymer microspheres prepared by dispersion copolymerization in an ethanol/water medium was investigated. The effects of the styrene/acrylamide ratio, ethanol/water ratio and stabilizer concentration on the particle size and size distribution were studied. It was found that the initial solubility parameter of the system was the key factor in the process. The comonomer acrylamide also played an important role in the particle size and size distribution in the presence of cross-linking agent (divinylbenzene).

Notes: Abstract 2,4,6-Triaminotoluene (TAT), an oxygen sensitive metabolic product of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) reduction, was derivatized yielding oxygen stable products using a procedure previously employed for the stabilization of other O2sensitive TNT metabolic products. A HPLC method is presented that allows for the separation of diverse intermediates and products of TNT metabolism following the derivatization procedure. © Rapid Science Ltd. 1998
