Notes: Light weight construction is a construction philosophy which aims at maximum weightreduction. Reasons for light weight construction can be very diverse. One main cause can be to improve fuel efficiency. This can be achieved by use of load optimised sheet thicknesses. Another reason can be the increasing demands on crash performances by optimisation of local properties. This paper presents two production processes of flexibly rolled blanks, one with longitudinal and the other one with latitudinal thickness transitions. Both of them have been developed at theInstitute of Metal Forming (IBF) and yet found their way into series production. The potential of these processes is already proved by a large range of products, especially in automotive industries. Some special deep drawing tests with flexibly rolled blanks have been conducted and their results are presented. Also process simulation has been carried out at the IBF and will be explained. One possibility with regard to optimise these products is shortly introduced. Completing this paper an outlook is given

Notes: Abstract The raytracing technique was used to derive a suitable design for the HEGRA system of Cherenkov telescopes, which is at present commissioned at La Palma. The reflectors with a diameter of ∼ 3.9 m consist of 30 spherical mirrors with focal lengths in the range of 4.88 – 4.94 m. It is shown that 93% of the photons from the Cherenkov light emitted by an extended air shower are contained in the camera pixels, 0.25° in diameter, for the full field of view of ϑ = ± 2.5°. The optical performance of the HEGRA design is compared to other layouts.

Notes: Abstract Coulomb-nuclear interference in inelastic scattering of 35.4 MeVα-particles from the stable even Zr isotopes was studied. In the framework of a collective DWBA analysis isoscalar and electromagnetic transition rates for low lying 2+ and 3− states were derived. The experimentalB (E2) values are in good agreement with results obtained by purely electromagnetic methods. The deducedM n /M p ratios of the 2 1 + levels exhibit a surprisingly large increase with increasing neutron number.

Notes: Abstract Scattering of 32.2 MeVα-particles from100Mo has been studied with an energy resolution of 20 keV. Angular distributions were measured from 10 to 40 degrees for an E x range of up to 3.7 MeV. Several new spin assignments have been made by comparing angular distributions with collective (vibrational) model DWBA calculations. An implicit folding procedure was used to derive isoscalar transition rates.
