Notizen:
Summary Histological, electronmicroscopic and radiochemical investigations in the rat have shown, that Polyvinyl-pyridin-N-oxid clearly inhibits the thrombohemorrhagic phenomenon of Selye and that the inhibitory function of this substance is based on its stabilizing effect on biological membranes. Polyvinyl-pyridin-N-oxid can prevent the discharge of mast cells, which is essential for the development of the thrombohemorrhagic phenomenon. Following the application of Polyvinyl-pyridin-N-oxid alterations of the metabolism of the connective tissue of skin and heart muscle — recognizable by acceleration of the35S-sulfate incorporation rate into sulfated mucopolysaccharides — could only be demonstrated to a small extent.
