Notes: Summary A dimensional analysis is reported for the dynamic plastic response and failure of structural members, which includes material strain hardening, strain rate and temperature effects. Critical shear failure conditions are also discussed based on the dimensional analysis results. It is shown that the response number R n proposed in [3], is an important independent dimensionless number for the dynamic plastic bending and membrane response of structural members. However, additional dimensionless numbers are necessary when transverse shear, strain hardening, strain rate, and temperature effects are important.

Notes: Abstract The Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ system samples doped with Sn on Cu sites were synthesized. Resistivity temperature dependence, X-ray powder diffraction and photoemission experiments have been performed. Suppression of superconductivity in the Sn-doped Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ system has been observed. X-ray photoemission measurements show that Sn ion enters the lattice. Our results reveal that Sn ions are mostly in bivalent states.

Notes: Abstract The Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ system samples doped with Pr on Ca sites were synthesized. Resistivity temperature dependence, X-ray powder diffraction, and photoemission experiments have been performed. Both X-ray diffraction and photoemission measurements show that Pr ion enters the lattice with a valence higher than 3+, which supports the hole-filling mechanism of the suppression of superconductivity.

Notes: Abstract  We isolated and characterized two MADS-box genes, TOBM1 and TOBM2, from Nicotiana tabacum. The complete cDNA sequences of TOBM1 and TOBM2 encode a 245 and a 242 amino acid protein, respectively. Amino acid sequence alignment and phylogenetic analyses have shown that TOBM1 and TOBM2 are highly related to the MADS-box-containing PFG, SQUA, and AP1 genes. However, expression patterns of TOBM1 and TOBM2 are significantly different from those of previously published MADS-box genes. TOBM1 and TOBM2 are expressed in the inflorescence meristem and all four floral organs. Within the stamen and carpel, TOBM1 and TOBM2 transcripts are present in immature pollen, ovary wall and ovule. TOBM1 is also active in stem tissues.

Notes: Abstract The Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ system samples doped with Pr on Ca sites were synthesized. Resistivity measurements, x-ray powder diffraction, and photoemission experiments were performed. The experiment results show that Pr ions entered the lattice and chemical environment plays a major role in the shift of core-level spectra and valence-band spectra.
