Notes: Coatings with outstanding chemical and physical properties can be obtained from two-pack formulations without stoving. The epoxy resin was cured with different amine-based compounds, such as polyamide (PA), the aniline copolymer of triethanolamine titanate and aniline formaldehyde. The thermal resistance properties of the cured films were analysed using the thermo-gravimetric method. This study also examined the effect of coating resistance of 3 per cent sodium chloride solution by means of electrochemical impedance measurements. Coatings that included the epoxy triethanolamine titanate showed superior behaviour, compared to the other two systems tested. This hardener can be recommended instead of using conventional PA and polyamidoamide hardeners for epoxy two-pack systems that are to be used to protect the steel structures from highly corrosive chemical and marine environments.

Notes: The efficacy of octylamine as a vapour phase corrosion inhibitor in different corrosive environments for carbon steel, copper and brass, and its biocidal action, have been examined. The protection of these metals from atmospheric corrosion using VPI (octylamine)-impregnated paper was monitored by visual observation, weight loss measurements, polarisation scans and impedance measurements. The long-term protection given by octylamine-impregnated paper to these metals was examined by Stevenson's chamber test. It was found that octylamine offered more than 80 per cent protection against atmospheric corrosion for carbon steel, copper and brass.

Notes: Abstract Chemical grafting of aniline (ANI) onto wool fibre was carried out in aqueous acidic medium by using peroxosalts such as peroxodisulphate (PDS) and peroxomonosulphate (PMS) as an initiator for various [Monomer], [Initiator] and (fibre weight). It was observed that both Rh and Rg increased with increase in the concentration of each component. The chemical grafting was confirmed using FTIR spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry (CV) and conductivity measurements.
