Notes: Summary The most important measure in the prophylaxis of idiopathic calcium urolithiasis is dietary advice. Patients should be kept to a high-fluid intake, increasing their diuresis by at least 0.51. The mineral content of drinking water seems to be of minor importance, but the liquid should be low in carbohydrates and oxalate. The intake of animal proteins should be reduced to no more than five meals with meat, fish or poultry per week. Excesses of oxalate-rich food must be avoided. The daily intake of calcium in dairy products should be in the range of 800–1200 mg. Sodium and refined carbohydrates should be moderately restricted. Medical treatment is indicated only in cases of recurrence under the appropriate diet. Selective treatment according to urinary chemical composition is favoured; alkali citrate, thiazides, allopurinol, and pyridoxine are of major interest.

Notes: Abstract An extensively updated version of the EQUIL software is described. The former version, designated EQUIL2, is widely used to study urolithiasis and related areas of biomineralization. In this report, we discuss recent enhancements which give EQUIL93 an expanded scope of application. This program has been frequently used in studies of the physicochemical processes underlying stone salt crystallization, especially crystal growth and nucleation, but it has also been employed as an aid for in vivo research and as an evaluator of therapeutic measures. We illustrate several new applications, including some outside the urologic realm, and we discuss how the enhanced software can be helpful in stone risk assessments.

Notes: Abstract he so far unknown nucleus147Er has been identified by means of γ- recoil and γ — γ coincidences through the reaction92Mo(58Ni,2pn) at a bombarding energy of 260 MeV. The level scheme has been obtained up to 5.0 MeV of excitation energy and shows collective excitations built on the h11/2 intruder orbital.
