    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Die Diffusion des phenolischen Antioxidanten 1, 3, 5-Tris (3,5-ditert.butyl-4-hydroxybenzyl)mesitylen (IRGANOX 1330) in zusammengepreßten, isotaktischen Polypropylenfolien wurde mittels isothermer Differentialthermoanalyse (DTA) über einen Temperaturbereich von 80°C bis 120°C untersucht. Die isothermen DTA-Messungen zeigten einen klaren Zusammenhang zwischen Oxidationsinduktionszeit und Oxidationsmaximumszeit und der Konzentration des Antioxidanten. Über die Bestimmung der Oxidationsmaximumszeiten von Folienstapeln aus isotaktischem Polypropylen war es möglich, die Diffusionskonstanten und Aktivierungsenergie der Diffusion von IRGANOX 1330 in iPP zu bestimmen. Um den Einfluß der Kristallstruktur auf die Diffusion von Stabilisatoren zu ermitteln, wurdedie gleiche Methode bei gepreßten Platten angewendet. Die Gefügestruktur (Kristallinitätsgrad und Sphärolithgröße) der Platten und Folien wurde mittels dynamischer DTA und Polarisationsmikroskop untersucht.
    Abstract: Резюме Методом изотермичес кого ДТА в интервале температур 80–120° изучена диффузия фенольного антиокис лителя 1, 3, 5-трис- /3, 5-ди-трет. бутил-4-оксибе нзил/мезитилена /Ирга нокс 1330/ в пресованных листах изотактического пол ипропилена / и-ПП/. Измерения показали я сную зависимость меж ду индукционным времен ем окисления и максимал ьным временем окисле ния/оба определяются изотермическим ДТА/и концентрацией стабилизатора. Путем измерения макс имального времени ок исления через стопку пластин изотактичес кого полипропилена, представилось возмо жным вычислить коэффицие нты диффузии и энерги ю активации процесса Диффузии антиокисли теля в и-ПП. Этот же сам ый метод был использован для измерения коэффи циентов диффузии антиокислителя Игранокс 1330 в прессован о-отлитых пластинах изотактического полипропилена. Влиян ие морфологической с труктуры и-ПП на процесс диффузии был изучен п утем измерения степе ни кристалличности пленок и пластин изот актического полипро пилена и определения размера сферулитов.
    Notes: Abstract The diffusion of the phenolic antioxidant 1, 3, 5-tris (3,5-ditert. butyl-4-hydroxybenzyl)mesitylene (IRGANOX 1330) in compressed sheets of isotactic polypropylene (iPP) was investigated over the temperature range from 80°C to 120°C by isothermal differential-thermal-analysis (DTA). The measurements showed a clear relation between oxidation induction time and oxidation maximum time, (both determined by isothermal DTA) and the concentration of stabilizer. It was possible to calculate the diffusion co-efficients and the activation energy of diffusion of IRGANOX 1330 in iPP by measuring the oxidation maximum times across stacks of isotactic polypropylene sheets. The same method was employed to measure the diffusion coefficient of IRGANOX 1330 in compressionmolded plates of iPP. The influence of the morphological structure of iPP on the diffusion process was investigated by measuring the cristallinity degree of iPP-films and-plates and the determination of the dimensions of the spherulites.

    Description / Table of Contents: An Folien (Dicke 100 pm) aus isotaktischem Polypropylen mit verschiedenen Antioxidansgehalten (0,0% bis 0,1%) wird die thermooxidative Alterunq mit der isothermen Langzeit-Differential-Thermo-Analyse (ILDTA) bis zu Temperaturen weit unter dem Kristallitschmelzbereich verfolqt und die Messwerte mit Ergebnissen aus dem Zeitstand-Zugversuch korreliert. Dabei zeigt sich, daß aus Messunqen mit der ILDTA bereits vor Einsetzen der autokatalytischen Zersetzunq sreaktion Ruckschlüsse auf die thermische Vorqeschichte der Proben und Aussagen auf das rnit einem Abfall der mechanischen Eigenschaften verbundene Ende der thermo-oxidativen Stabilität des Polymeren getroffen werden können.Weiters bietet die ILDTA die Moglichkeit, durch den direkten Zusamenhang zwischen Oxidationszeit und Antioxidansögehalt die örtliche Stabilisatorverteilung in Platten und in Folien zu bestimmen und damit Diffusionsvorqange zu verfolgen.
    Notes: Thermo-oxidative ageing processes were investigated in films (100 μm thick) made from isotactic polypropylene with different antioxidant concentrations between 0% and 0.1% using isothermal long-term differential thermal analysis (ILDTA). The end of the oven life of polypropylene coincided with the loss of mechanical properties which was confirmed by tensile tests at temperatures far below the crystallite melting range. Already prior to the beginning of autocatalytic decomposition, ILDTA experiments permits conclusions to be drawn on the thermal history of the specimens and statements made regarding the end of thermo-oxidative stability of the polymer, which is accompanied by a deterioration in the mechanical properties.In consequence of the correlation between oxidation time and antioxidant concentration the local antioxidant concentration in sheets or films can be measured by ILDTA. Thus, investigating the diffusion of an antioxidant in polypropylene using ILDTA is possible.

    Description / Table of Contents: Competing Mechanisms in the Interconversion of Some Cycloadducts of 1,2-Dichloroethylene to CyclopentadieneSix of the seven products obtained in the cycloaddition of cyclopentadiene to cis- and trans- 1,2-dichloroethylenes were examined and found to undergo a variety of isomerizations above 300°C. The 2,7-dichloronorbornene 1 and the two 3,5-dichloronortricyclenes 2 und 3, which are the sole products of the rearrrangement of the 2,3-dichloronorbornenes in titanium tetrachloride, are absent in the product obtained when five of the seven cycloaducts are thermolyzed over quartz (450-500°C/0.6 torr). Under these conditions a reunion of the Diels-Alder reversion products is also not observed. In twelve such thermolyses (Table 4) 15% of the observed products represented Berson rearrangement products (consistent with „symmetryallowed“ inversion under HOMO control); 34% were consistent with subjacent orbital control; 29% with epimerization; 21% with ionic rearrangements and 1% with other reaction modes. The structures of the rearrangement prodcuts were established and the competing mechanisms are discussed in terms of known analogies.
    Notes: Sechs der sieben Produkte der Cycloaddition von Cyclopentadien an cis- und trans-1,2- Dichloräthylen wurden untersucht. Es wurde festgestellt, daß bei Temperaturen oberhalb 300°C verschiedene Isomerisierungsreaktionen stattfinden. 2,7-Dichlornorbornen (1) und die beiden 3,5-Dichlornortricylene 2 und 3 (die einzigen Produkte der Umlagerung der 2,3-Dichlornorbornene in Titantetrachlorid) fehlten in dem Produktgemisch der Quarzthermolyse (450- 5OO°C/0.6 Torr) von fünf der sieben Cycloaddukte. Unter diesen Bedingungen findet eine Wiedervereinigung der Produkte der umgekehrten Diels-Alder-Reaktion ebenfalls nicht statt. In zwölf Thermolysen dieser Art (Tabelle 4) sind 15% der isolierten Produkte Berson- Umlagerungsprodukte (vereinbar mit „symmetrieerlaubter“ Inversion unter HOMO- Kontrolle); 34% sind vereinbar mit unterorbitaler Kontrolle („subjacent orbital control“), 29% mit Epimerisierung, 21% mit ionischer Umlagerung und 1% mit anderen Reaktionen. - Die Strukturen der Umlagerungsprodukte wurden ermittelt und die konkurrierenden Mechanismen anhand von Analogien diskutiert.
