Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Von 1968–1983 haben wir 114 Fremdkörper beobachtet. 94 konnten endoskopisch and 7 chirurgisch entfernt werden, 13 gingen per vias naturales ab.
Notes: Summary Between 1968 and 1983 we saw 114 foreign bodies in the esaphagus: 94 were extracted by endoscopy and 7 by surgical procedures; 13 passed per vias naturales. From 1961 to 1983 we treated 11 patients with ruptures and 104 patients with perforations of the esophagus. The causes of the ruptures were Boerhaave's syndrome (9) and thoracic trauma (2). The causes of the perforations were iatrogenic injuries, tumors, and direct traumas. A surgical procedure (suture or resection) is the treatment of choice. Mortality increases with the interval between the lesion and therapy. If an esophagal lesion is suspected, intensive radiological and endoscopic diagnosis and early surgical intervention are most important.
