Description / Table of Contents:
Experimental results of ultrasonic velocity measurements (f = 12 MHz), dynamic shear measurements (f = 1 Hz) and calorimetric measurements are represented for some poly(vinyl chloride)-poly(vinyl acetate) composites. The characteristic temperatures of the methods (slope-change of the acoustic modulus - Tc, maximum of the shear loss - Tp, calorimetric glass temperature - Tg) - corresponding the glass transition of the poly(viny1 acetate) - are compared after reduction to an equal effective frequency. Tc, and Tp, mark the high-frequency end of the glass transition zone. A theoretical explanation is presented for the fact that the high frequency relaxational modes - corresponding to Tc, - of the glass transition zone are connected with a short mode length of about 0.6 nm.
Notes:
