Notes:
Summary Isolated liver perfusion and intra-arterial chemotherapy of liver metastases of colorectal carcinomas are considerably successful; however, local recurrences occur in up to 60% of all cases. Our aim was to work out a model of isolated perfusion of the gastrointestinal tract with high-dosage cytostatics. To date, research has been carried out on 58 pigs; the results demonstrate the feasibility of isolated perfusion of the GI tract by means of extracorporeal circulation. The leakage rate is than 4.5 %. The cytostatic agent FUDR is absorbed in. the liver and intestine (maximum dose 8 mg/kg body weight).
