Description / Table of Contents: Abstract
Notes: Abstract XRD, isothermal and temperature-programmed reduction (TPR) experiments were carried out with SiO2, SiO2−Al2O3 and γ-Al2O3 supported catalysts. Molybdena is in a more disperse state on supports containing more alumina and it is more reducible on SiO2−Al2O3 than on SiO2 or γ-Al2O3. TPR curves were shown to reflect connections between reduction kinetics and dispersity.

Description / Table of Contents: Abstract
Notes: Abstract Acidity of SiO2, γ-Al2O3 and SiO2−Al2O3 supports and supported Mo-catalysts in oxidized and reduced state are characterized by IR-spectroscopic and gravimetric pyridine (py) adsorption measurements. Differences in surface acidities are interpreted as results of differences in chemical compositions, molybdena-support interactions and molybdena dispersities.

Notes: Abstract The elemental composition of various synthetic crystalline sodium-boroaluminosilicates, especially the Al content and the silicon to aluminium bulk ratio, were determined by means of the combination of PIGE (Proton-Induced Gamma-Ray Emission Spectrometry) and PIXE (Proton-Induced X-Ray Emission Spectrometry). Light elements (B, O, Na, Al) were determined by means of gamma-ray emission. Proton-induced X-ray emission provided information on heavy elements present down to impurities. The Si/Al ratios, which mainly determine the catalytic and adsorptive properties of the zeolites, are compared with those obtained with other methods (EPMA, H2O sorption capacity) and show good agreement.

Notes: Alkylation and Transalkylation of Aromatics on AlumosilicatesThe alkylation of toluene (benzene) with methanol and the isomerization of metaxylene on alumina-silica and modified zeolites (HNaY, HM, HZSM-5) are acid-catalyzed proceed via a same intermediate. Except for the samples HZSM-5, the alkylation of toluene (benzene) can be explained by activity  -  selectivity  -  correlations. The referential diffusion of para-xylene in the channels of zeolithe ZSM-5 leads to a high product selectivity in alkylation and transalkylation reactions. Suggesting the supposition of a triangular reaction scheme.

Description / Table of Contents: Studies on Oxide Catalysts. XLV. Conversion of Aromatics on Dealuminated Zeolites ZSM-5The catalytic properties of zeolites ZSM-5 dealuminated by hydrochloric acid are investigated in the isomerization of m-Xylene, the disproportionation of toluene and in the alkylation of toluene with methanol. Besides the increase of the Si/Al ratio, the dealumination leads to an inversion of the Si/Al concentration gradient in crystallites, to a shift of acidity spectrum and consequently to a change in catalytic activity and selectivity.

Description / Table of Contents: Studies on Oxide Catalysts. XLVI. Synthetic Boroaluminosilicates with Pentasil Structure (SABO): Structural, Surface Chemical, and Catalytical PropertiesA remarkable modification of ZSM-5 type zeolites is possible by isomorphous substitution of silicon and/or aluminium by boron. In the H-forms of these SABO zeolites the boron atoms mainly exist in a trigonal lattice oxygen environment and hence they are not envolved in the formation of Broensted acid sites. Consequences of incorporated boron for catalytic reactions result from a decrease in the strength of existing Broensted sites as well as from a partial lattice contraction.

Description / Table of Contents: Studies on Oxide Catalysts. XLIV. Modification of the Catalytic Behavior of Modified ZSM-5 Zeolites by Thermal TreatmentThe catalytic activity, the shape selectivity, and the deactivation behavior of ZSM-5 in paraffin cracking reactions can be regulated by a thermal pretreatment. A minimum of the deactivation rate as a function of zeolite pretreatment time at 600°C found in the hexane cracking could be verified in the methanol conversion reaction to gasoline.

Description / Table of Contents: Studies on Oxide Catalysts. XLIII. Thermoanalytic and Catalytic Investigations of Platinum-Containing Zeolites H-ZSM-5By impregnation with H2PtCl6 from ethanolic solution, after reduction a higher metal dispersion in zeolites Pt/H-ZSM-5 is achieved than by impregnation from aqueous solution. Over such samples, bifunctional catalyzed reactions are more favoured than over zeolites Pt/H-ZSM-5 obtained by impregnation with H2PtCl6 from aqueous solution.

Description / Table of Contents: I.R.-Spectroscopic Investigation of the Interaction between Ni-containing Y-Zeolites and Carbon MonoxideBy the interaction of CO with reduced NiNaY or NiHY samples adsorbed CO on Ni2+ (2 215 cm-1) and on Ni+ (2 085 and 2 095 cm-1, respectively) and two species of adsorbed Ni(CO)4 are formed. Ni(CO)4 is produced in a slow, reversible reaction. Both species are in an equilibrium which is influenced by the acidity of the samples.
