Zusammenfassung In den Jahren 1975–1979 wurden bei Amputationsverletzungen und offenen Frakturen dritten Grades mit Defekten von Knochen, Sehnen, Nerven und Haut die Vorteile einer primären Verkürzungsosteotomie des Knochens zwischen 4 und 7 cm genutzt. Das funktionelle Spätergebnis hängt ab von der erreichten Nerven- und Sehnenfunktion, während der Längenverlust an der oberen Extremität nur eine geringe Rolle spielt.

Summary With amputation injuries and open fractures showing defects of bone, tendons, nerves, and skin on the upper and lower arm, a primary shortening of the bone of between 4 and 7 cm was used in 11 cases during the years 1975–1979. The functional late result depends on the achieved function of nerves and tendons; loss of length in the upper extremity plays only a minor part.
