Description / Table of Contents: TSD-spectra are measured after thermal and optical excitation at several values of polarizing field strength and intensity of light. An α-relaxation region is not evident by optical excitation. The β-relaxation region is observable, but it is superimposed by another relaxation region for greater polarizing field strength. By optical excitation further maxima are observed at temperatures higher than the temperature of the β-relaxation. They are interpreted by a trap mechanism. An identical space charge maximum exists for both the excitation processes.

Description / Table of Contents: The differentiation of electron and ion charge carriers is of principal importance for explaining the electrical properties of high polymer solids. Experimental methods enabling differentiation between electron and ion charge carrier transport are summarized and estimated, particularly mass transport (mass spectroscopy, neutron activation analysis and tracer technique) as direct methods as well as “internal” electrical effects (d.c. characteristics and dielectric measurements) and “external” electrical effects (electrochemical cell, electrode conditions, pressure dependence of conductivity, photoelectric effects) as indirect methods. The results obtained with various high-ohmic polymer solids are summarized and discussed.

Notes: New synthetic methods developed in the field of organotin compounds since 1959 are reviewed. The use of alkyl aluminum compounds brings an advance in the preparation of tetraalkyltin derivatives, alkyltin halides, and alkyltin hydrides. Organotin hydrides offer new possibilities for the production of monomeric and polymeric organotin compounds. Diethyltin and diphenyltin, which are obtained by catalytic dehydrogenation of the respective dialkyltin dihydrides, are cyclic compounds. - The literature since 1959 is reviewed.
