Zusammenfassung Bei 300 wegen unklarer Kniegelenksbeschwerden durchgeführten Arthroskopien (19781980) fanden sich 57 alte vordere Kreuzbandverletzungen. Diese Zahl beweist, daß die frische vordere Kreuzbandruptur häufig nicht erkannt wird. Bei 15 frischen Kniegelenkstraumen mit Hämarthrose ohne klinische oder röntgenologische Instabilität wurde innerhalb 7 Tagen eine Arthroskopie durchgeführt, die in jedem Fall eine vordere Kreuzbandruptur ergab. Der Hämarthros stellte somit das klinische Leitsymptom für die frische vordere Kreuzbandruptur dar, die Arthroskopie erlaubte die sichere Diagnose.

Summary In 300 arthroscopies of the knee joint we found 57 old ruptures of the anterior cruciate ligament. This number shows that a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament is often not diagnosed early. In 15 fresh cases of knee-joint trauma with hemarthrosis and without clinical or radiological instability, arthroscopy was performed within 7 days after trauma. There was a fresh rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in every case. Hemarthrosis was the leading clinical sign in all cases of fresh ruptures, and arthroscopy led to definite diagnosis.
