Notes: Summary Disturbances of the ocular motility following bone fractures of the orbit are frequently due to combined causes. They are sometimes caused not by or not only by fracture dislocation of the orbital floor but also by damage to the ocular muscles and their nerves. In such a case the consequences of a compression trauma at the apex of the orbit play an important part. In addition to preoperative x-rays and endoscopy of maxillary sinus it is therefore necessary to carry out an exact analysis of the respective disturbances of ocular motility. This is possible by the synoptometer of Cüppers. The possibility of an exact examination of orbital trauma according to this method is shown in cases of combined orbital injuries and also how a primary neuro-muscular damage can simulate an orbital fracture.

Notes: Summary After a 3- and 8 day administration of cyclophosphamide to rats an approximately dose-dependent decrease in the pancreatic secretion of protein and enzyme activities was demonstrable in vivo under exogenous stimulation with secretin and pancreozymin. The volume of secretion and the electrolyte outputs were found to be slightly lowered. An impairment in enzyme synthesis resulting from cyclophosphamide administration is suggested as the major cause of the observed changes in secretion.

Notes: Summary A case report of Tangier disease (Anlipoproteinemia). The symptom is the orange yellow discolouration of hyperplastic tonsills. Further typical but not always present findings are orange yellow changes of the oropharynx and nasopharynx and enlargement of lymph nodes. The clinical, histological and electron-microscop ical findings are described. Being acquainted withe the disease the ENT specialist can establish an early diagnosis.
