Photoisomerization of 1-(4-Hydroxyphenyl)-2methyldiazenesPhotochemically induced isomerization of the title compounds have been studied. The thermal cis-trans isomerization 3c→3t occurs via the tautomeric quinone alkylhydrazone 3H as shown by 1H NMR spectroscopy. The influence of solvent and substituents on the velocity of the thermal cis-trans isomerization is discussed. 1H NMR data for the cis-isomers 2c. and 3c are given.

Photochemisch induzierte Isomerisierungen der Titelverbindungen werden untersucht. Mit Hilfe von 1H-NMR-Spektroskopie wird gezeigt, daß die thermische cis-trans-Isomerisierung 3c→3t über das tautomere Chinon-alkylhydrazon 3H verläuft. Der Lösungsmittel- und Substituenteneinfluß auf die Geschwindigkeit der thermischen cis- trans-Isomerisierung wird diskutiert. Die 1H-NMR-Daten für die cis-Isomeren 2c und 3c werden angegeben.
