Conclusions 1. Heteroligand copper (II) chelates with acetylacetone, and with racemic and optically active phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan, have been synthesized and their formation constants in DMSO solution determined. The heteroligand chelates are more stable than the homoligand. The heteroligand chelates with enantiomeric and racemic amino acids are equally stable in solution. 2. A study has also been made of the UV and IR spectra of these same chelates, in solution and in the crystalline state. The spectra difference s between the chiral and racemic chelates are treated quantitatively.
