Zusammenfassung Seit 1968 haben wir 19 Leberperfusionen bei 11 Patienten mit insgesamt 16 Komaepisoden durchgeführt. Bei 7 Patienten besserte sich nach der Perfusion der neurologische Status. Das Bewußtsein bei 5 von diesen 7 Patienten war völlig ungetrübt. 6 Patienten überlebten mehr als 4 Tage nach der Perfusion. 2 von diesen 6 Patienten konnten geheilt entlassen werden. Anhand eines Beispiels wurden die Indikation, das Behandlungsprinzip, die Technik der extrakorporalen Leberperfusion und die Ergebnisse verschiedener Autoren dargestellt.

Summary Since 1968 we have performed 19 extracorporeal liver perfusions for the treatment of 16 episodes of hepatic coma in 11 patients. Neurological improvement was noted in 7 patients. 5 of these 7 patients recovered full consciousness. 6 patients lived more than 4 days after perfusion, 2 of them made complete recovery and are alive. The indication, principle and the technique of the extracorporeal liver perfusion are illustrated and the results of other authors were summarized.
