Attempts at isolation of this last specie kowever, failed because of the ease with which it was decomposed into ThX2. The system Th(NO3)4—K2C2O4—H2O has also been studied for the sake of the completeness of the investigation.

    Notes: The complex compound formation in the system has been investigated spectrophotometrically, following the continued and monovariation methods. Only one complex viz. 1:1 has been found to be formed in the above system by both the techniques. pH studies of the above system indicate the 1:1 complex to be a chelate.From spectrophotometric data, the value of formation constant has been calculated which works out to be 5 · 10 × 102.

    Notes: A number of complex malonates of the general formulae R2[MII(C3H2O4)2] · x H2O [where R — K, Na, and Tl(I); M(II) — Zn, Cd, Hg and Be] have been prepared by treating the freshly precipitated heavy metal hydroxide with a solution of alkali or thallous hydrogen malonate and submitting the resulting solution to crystallisation. The general behaviour of these compounds has been studied.

    Description / Table of Contents: Spektrophotometrisch wurde die Komplexbildung von Eisen(III) mit einigen aromatischen Oxycarbonsäuren, z. B. p-Sulfokresatinsäure, p-Acetylkresatinsäure und 1-Hydroxo-2-naphthoeräure untersucht. Der violett gefärbte Komplex hat in jedem System die Zusammensetzung 1:1 Für diese Komplexe konnten die Beständigkeitskonstanten zu 1,25 · 102 (für Eisen-1-hydroxo-2-naphthoat), 1,06 · 102 (für Eisen-p-sulfo-kresatinat) und 4,64 · 102 (für Eisen-p-acetyl-kresatinat) bestimmt werden.
    Notes: The formation of iron(III)-complexes with some phenolic acids viz. 1-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid, sulpho-p-cresotic acid and acetyl-p-cresotic acid has been investigated spectrophotometrically by JOB's method of continuous variation. The composition of violet coloured complex in each system was found to be 1:1. From spectrophotometric data the values of the formation constant for the 1:1 complex ions viz. (Fe-1-hydroxy-2-naphthoate)+ (Fe-sulfo-p-cresotate)+ and (Fe-acetyl-p-cresotate)+ have been calculated which work out to be 1.25 · 102, 1.06 · 102 and 4.64 · 102 respectively.

    Description / Table of Contents: Darstellung und Eigenschaften von Additionsverbindungen des SnCl4 mit N, N-Dimethylformamid, Acetamid, Acetanilid und Benzamid werden mitgeteilt. Neben der Analyse zeigen auch Donator-Acceptor-Titrationen in Dichloräthan die allgemeine Formel SnCl4 · 2 Amid. Leitfähigkeitsmessungen in Nitromethan und Molekulargewichtsbestimmungen lassen auf das Vorliegen von monomeren Additionsverbindungen schließen. Aus den IR-Spektren geht an Hand einer Erniedrigung der (C—O)- und einer Erhöhung der (C—N)-Valenzschwingung eine Bindung der organischen Liganden an das Zinn über Sauerstoff hervor. Die relativen Basenstärken nehmen in der Reihe Dimethylformamid, Benzamid, Acetanilid, Acetamid ab.
    Notes: The molecular addition compounds of tin (iv) chloride with N, N-dimethyl formamide, acetamide, acetanilide, and benzamide have been prepared. They are of the type SnCl4 · 2 amide. This composition type has been confirmed by indicator titrations of stannic chloride against amides in dichloroethane. Conductivity measurements in nitromethane and molecular weight determinations show that they are true molecular addition compounds being monomeric.The infrared spectra of the adducts show that there are metal-to-oxygen bonds in all these compounds as is evidenced by a negative shift of the carbonyl stretching frequency and a positive shift of the C—N stretching frequency. The relative donor ability of the amides towards stannic chloride has been found to be: dimethyl formamide 〉 benzamide 〉 acetanilide 〉 acetamide.

    Description / Table of Contents: Durch Reaktion von Zirkoniumnitrat mit den K-Salzen der Oxalsäure, Malonsäure, Apfelsäure, Bernsteinsäure, Adipinsäure und Phthalsäure in wäßriger Lösung konnten durch Fällung oder fraktionierte Kristallisation eine Reihe von Verbindungen erhalten werden (Formeln siehe Summary).Die Ergebnisse der präparativen Versuche konnten durch elektrometrische Titrationen und Trübungstitrationen bestätigt werden. Diese Methoden liefern außerdem Hinweise für das Auftreten eines komplexen Ions [ZrO(ZrOX)]++ in diesem System.
    Notes: From aqueous solution of Zr(NO3)4 and K2X (X-oxalate, malonate, malate, succinate, adipate and phthalate) taken in different molar proportions, the following compounds were prepared either by precipitation or by fractional crystallization methods. ZrO · C2O4 · 2 H2O; ZrO · C3H2O4, ZrO · C4H4O5, ZrO · C4H4O4, ZrO · C6H8O4; K2[ZrO(C2O4)2], K2[ZrO(C3H2O4)2] and K2[ZrO(C4H4O5)2].Conductometric, hetrometric and electrometric titrations carried out on the systems: ZrOCl2—K2X—H2O and Zr(NO3)4—K2X—H2O confirm the findings from the preparative studies. The first two type of titrations indicate the formation of the complex ion [ZrO(ZrOX)]++ in the above systems.
