Notes:
Summary There have been analysed the serum proteins of 30 tumour bearing rats with special reference to glycoproteins, lipoproteins and enzymatic components as e.g. of esterases and lactic dehydrogenasis using agar electrophoresis and biochemical methods as known from histochemistry. The 30 rats have been divided into two groups, one of them of 10 animals, the other of 20 rats. Out of the group of 10 animals 5 got inoculated Yoshida sarcoma cells and 5 Walker carcinoma cells; no further treatment has followed. The group of 20 animals has been divided into 10 rats which had been pretreated with specific anti-Yoshida serum and then injected subcutaneously with cell filtrate of Yoshida sarcoma and into 10 other rats which had been pretreated with specific anti-Walker serum and then injected with Walker cell filtrate. As a result there could be demonstrated a dysproteinemia with hypoalbuminemia and a relative increase of α-glycoproteins. Among the enzymatic fractions the esterases showed an increase and among isoenzymes of lactic dehydrogenasis a new component of type V and high activity appeared, not normally present in serum of the rat.
