Notes:
Summary In the liver of pregnant rats significant rises of activity of lactate-dehydrogenase, of fructose-diphosphate-aldolase, of glycerinaldehydphosphate-dehydrogenase, of the pyruvate-kinase and of the hexokinase can be found. Enolase and phosphoglycerate-kinase show unchanged activities compared with normal animals. The activity of glucose-6-phosphate-dehydrogenase is elevated at the beginning of gestation and decreases with progression of pregnancy. A significant decrease of activity which is independent of the course of gestation exists in the case of glucose-6-phosphatase. The determination of the stationary concentrations of some metabolites of the carbohydrate metabolism in the liver of pregnant rats reveals a significant lowering of the amounts of glucose-6-phosphate, fructose-6-phosphate, dihydroxyacetone-phosphate and fructose-1,6-diphosphate. The glucose content of the liver as well as the glucose level of the peripheral blood decrease significantly during gestation. Against this are alterations of the stationary pyruvate-concentration in the liver and of the pyruvate content of the blood not significant.
