Notes:
Summary The following types of antibodies were differentiated in heterologous rabbit antisera against mouse or rat lymphocytes: 1. Anti-erythrocyte/leucocyte/ thrombocyte/liver/kidney-antibody; 2. Anti-leucocyte/thrombocyte/liver/kidney-antibody; 3. Anti-leucocyte-antibody; 4. Anti-erythrocyte-antibody; 5. Anti-serum-protein-antibody. While anti-erythrocyte and anti-leucocyte antibodies were found in the 7 S-as well as in the 19 S-Globulin-Fraction, antibodies against an antigen common to red cells and leucocytes were only demonstrated in the 7 S-fraction. The practical implications with the latter antibody what regards the absorption of red cell agglutinins were considered. Antibody activity against granulocytes was demonstrated by complementfixing tests, granulocyte count and extramedullary haemopoesis in the liver. The antibodies lack blood group specificity. Cross-reactivity between blood cells of rat and mouse does not involve all of the antibodies. The precipitation lines of the antibodies against organ extracts were not interpreted as organ specific.
