Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Abstract IR-spectroscopy can be used generally in the field of biochemistry and clinical chemistry for the investigation of the following topics: 1. Structure elucidation and identification of compounds; 2. investigation of mixtures of compounds; 3. quantitative determination of compounds in solution. With the micro- and ultra-micro methods available at present time the investigation of amounts of substances in the range of 1 μg (in special cases 0.1 μg) is possible in solution as well as by the KBr method. In layers of 0.05 mm the compounds can be determined in aquous solution both qualitatively and quantitatively. A review of literature presents information about IR-spectroscopic work dealing with enzymes, proteins, fats, lipids, nucleic acids and their components, carbohydrates, steroids, biochemical and pharmaceutical compounds.
