Summary The enzyme-histochemical studies performed in cells of non inflamed connective tissue, blood and bone marrow showed, that the enzyme pattern of the tissue eosinophiles is identical to that present in the blood eosinophiles. Furthermore, the enzyme species borne differences of the mouse and rat blood eosinophiles, could be found as well in the tissue eosinophiles, especially in regard to the alkaline phosphatase. In contrast, a clear difference was found between the enzyme content of the fibroblasts and histiocytes and that of the tissue eosinophiles. The tissue leukocytes as well as the neutrophiles and the eosinophiles in blood and bone marrow showed a strong myeloperoxidase activity. Such reaction could be sharply outlined from the cytochrome oxidase reaction present in all cells.
Notes:
