Notes: Abstract The positron spectrum emitted in the U-U-reaction at subthreshold energy could be interpreted in terms of the formation of a giant nucleus if the binding of the latter is 100 MeV stronger than predicted by the usual droplet model parametrisation. We analyse the extrapolation to giant nuclei by accounting properly for the error propagation when the parameters are fitted to measured binding energies and radii. The influence of higher order terms is discussed.

Notes: Abstract The last version of the analytical superasymmetric fission model is applied to study cold fission processes. Strong shell effects are present either in one or both fission fragments. A smooth behaviour is observed when the proton or the neutron numbers are changed by four units. IncreasingZ andN, in the transuranium region, a sharp transition from asymmetry with a large peak-to-valley ratio to symmetry atZ=100 and/orN=164 is obtained. The transition toward asymmetry at higherZ andN is much smoother. The most probable cold fission light fragments from234U,236U,239Np and240Pu are100Zr,104Mo,106Mo and106Mo, respectively, in good agreement with experimental data. The unified treatment of alpha decay, heavy ion radioactivities and cold fission is illustrated for234U — the first nucleus in which all three groups have been already observed.

Notes: Abstract A new multi-fluid model is constructed for describing high-energy heavy-ion collisions. It is assumed that two baryonic fluids formed by the projectile and target nucleons produce a third hadronic fluid via inelastic nucleon-nucleon collisions. The production and expansion dynamics of the hadronic fluid are investigated in detail. Two equations of state for this fluid are considered: one corresponding to an ideal gas of pions and resonances and another one corresponding to an interacting hadron gas described by the relativistic mean-field model. The effects of freeze-out and non-zero pion chemical potential are investigated. The rapidity and transverse momentum spectra of secondary pions are compared with the experimental data forS + S collisions at 200 GeV/nucleon.

Notes: Abstract A relativistic baryon-meson mean field theory (including delta resonances) is used to study the dependence of pion production in heavy ion collisions on the nuclear equation of state and on the delta-meson coupling constants. For fixed ground state equations of state, the pion yields depend sensitively on the value of the delta-meson coupling constants.

Notes: Abstract The extended rotation-vibration model containing different deformations for protons and neutrons is applied to even-even Gd-isotopes and the results are compared to experiment and to other theoretical models. It is found to describe magnetic transitions reasonably well and to also give improved electric transition rates compared to the conventional model.

Notes: Abstract A new theoretical model is introduced which is able to describe the initial compression and thermalization stage of an ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collision in a hydrodynamical three-flow picture. The first and second fluid is attributed to the nucleons of target and projectile, while a third component is introduced in order to take into account the gradual thermalization of the incoming flow. Based on relativistic transport theory, hydrodynamic equations of motion are derived for each component including transitions of target and projectile nucleons to the thermalized matter component as well as mutual deceleration accompanied with gradual heat transfer between the components. Hence, the multicomponent formalism contains the former two fluid approach as a limiting case.
