Notes: Abstract Experimentally observed enhanced14C and24Ne emission rates from even-even parents in comparison with that from even-odd or odd-even nuclei are explained in the framework of the analytical superasymmetric fission model, by taking various prescriptions for the zero point vibration energy of even-even, even-odd, odd-even and odd-odd emitters. Longer half-lives than previously computed are obtained by extrapolating the present prescriptions to emitted clusters heavier than24Ne.

Notes: Abstract The last version of the analytical superasymmetric fission model is applied to study cold fission processes. Strong shell effects are present either in one or both fission fragments. A smooth behaviour is observed when the proton or the neutron numbers are changed by four units. IncreasingZ andN, in the transuranium region, a sharp transition from asymmetry with a large peak-to-valley ratio to symmetry atZ=100 and/orN=164 is obtained. The transition toward asymmetry at higherZ andN is much smoother. The most probable cold fission light fragments from234U,236U,239Np and240Pu are100Zr,104Mo,106Mo and106Mo, respectively, in good agreement with experimental data. The unified treatment of alpha decay, heavy ion radioactivities and cold fission is illustrated for234U — the first nucleus in which all three groups have been already observed.

Notes: Abstract We study nondissipative fission dynamics in a wide range of mass asymmetry, covering three groups of nuclear decay modes: cluster radioactivities; alpha-decay and cold fission. The WKB action integral is calculated by using the Werner-Wheeler inertia tensor and the deformation energy within Yukawa-plus-exponential model extended to binary systems with different charge densities. The optimum dynamical trajectory in a threedimensional deformation space (elongation, necking-in and mass-asymmetry) is determined by solving a nonlinear system of differential equations. This new method is illustrated for three decay modes of234U:α-decay, Mg-radioactivity and cold fission with100Zr as a light fragment.

Notes: Abstract Effective inertias for cold fission, heavy ion radioactivities and alpha decay are calculated within the Werner-Wheeler approximation by using two parametrizations of intersecting spheres, with either constant radius (cluster-like shapes) or constant volume (more compact shapes) of the light fragment. A correction for the center of mass motion of a system with axial symmetry is introduced. General analytical relationships are obtained which are easily particularized for various cases of practical interest. If the mass number of the light particle is lower than 31, the action integral calculated using the Yukawa-plus-exponential potential takes lower values for cluster-like shapes than for more compact ones.

Notes: Abstract By using our semiclassical method to estimate the preformation probability of the touching point configuration as the penetrability of the inner part of the barrier, it is shown that this quantity is strongly dependent on the nuclear structure. We are illustrating this dependence by comparing the low probability of cluster preformation in a doubly magic nucleus208Pb, with much higher values obtained in a heavier parent nucleus leading to208Pb heavy fragment, for different emitted clusters like4He,12C,20Ne,24Mg, etc.

Notes: Abstract Hindered or favoured transitions have been experimentally detected in cluster radioactivity of odd-mass nuclei, in a similar way to what has been previously observed in spontaneous fission or in the fine structure ofα-decay. By combining the experimental study with a suitable theoretical description one can develop a powerful method to get direct spectroscopic informations on the deformed states of emitting nuclei. We are analyzing the possibility to explain within a superasymmetric fission model why the14C transition from223Ra toward the first excited state of209Pb is stronger than that toward its ground state.
