Notes: Abstract The electron-capture decay of228Pa to levels in228Th has been studied using mass-separated sources and high-resolutionγ-ray and conversion-electron spectroscopy. A level at 979.5 keV is assigned as 2+ member of a second excited Kπ=0+ band, with the 0+ band head at 938.6 keV. The 2+ and 3+ members of a second excited Kπ=2+ band at 1153.5 and 1200.5 keV, which decay by strongE0 transitions to the 969 keVγ-vibrational band, are confirmed. In addition we tentatively propose a Kπ=1+ band at 944 keV. The Kπ=0−, 1− and 2− members of the octupole quadruplet are confirmed, and theγ decay of these levels is analysed in an approach, in which the mixing of the octupole bands by the Coriolis interaction is taken into account. It is suggested that octupole correlations might be important for theE1 transition moments. A total of 29 levels is observed between ∼1.4 and ∼2.0 MeV, for which the nuclear structure, and the possible assignment to rotational bands, is unclear.

Notes: Abstract Theg-factor of the 21 + state of192Pt has been measured by the IPAC technique in an external magnetic field as:g(21 +,192Pt)=+0.287(17). An additional IPAC experiment with an192IrFe sample was performed with the same level in order to investigate the hyperfine field. The result:ω L τ(21 +,192PtFe)=0.1115(9) gives the hyperfine field:B hf 4.2k (PtFe)=126.8(71) T. The result of an LTNO experiment with the same level is compatible with the assumption that 100% of the192Ir atoms were on unique sites.

Notes: Abstract 69m,71mZn have been implanted with an isotope separator on-line into a cold iron host matrix. Nuclear magnetic resonance of the low-temperature oriented isotopes has been observed. The resonance frequencies for zero external magnetic field are vL(69mZnFe@#@) =36.814(35) MHz andv L (71mZnFe)=33.47(19) MHz. From these the magnetic moments of the 9/2+ iosmeric states have been derived as μ(69mZn)=(−)1.138(18) n.m. andμ(71mZn)=(−)1.035(18) n.m. The experimentally known magnetic moments of (vg 9/2)-levels in odd zinc isotopes are compared to theoretical estimates.

Notes: Abstract Low temperature nuclear orientation experiments have been performed with122,124Sb in Sb and Zn single crystals. The ratio of the quadrupole moments of124Sb and122Sb is derived from the data asQ 124/Q 122= +2.17 (11). The sign of the effective electric field gradient at the nuclear site of Sb was found to be negative for host Sb and positive for host Zn.

Notes: Abstract Nuclear levels in230Th have been investigated in theβ decay of230Pa, the230Th(d, pnγ) reaction and the232Th(p, t) reaction. TheK π=0 1 + , 2 1 + , and 2 2 + bands with band heads at 635, 781, and 1010 keV were observed up to the 8+, 9+, and 7+ levels, respectively. A second excited 0+ level was identified at 1297 keV which might be interpreted as the usualβ shape-oscillation. The branching ratios of theE2 transitions from the 0 1 + , 2 1 + , and 2 2 + bands are explained in the framework of the rotational model by taking into account the coupling of these bands with the ground-state band, and the coupling between the 0 1 + and 2 1 + band. A strong enhancement ofE2 transitions from the 2 1 + to the 0 1 + band reported earlier is not confirmed. For the octupole vibrations withK π=0−, 1−, and 2− theE1 branching ratios are analyzed in terms of the Coriolis coupling of these bands. An almost complete experimental set ofE1 transition moments from these negative-parity bands to the 0 g + , 0 1 + , and 2 1 + bands was obtained. It is suggested that octupole correlations might be important in explaining theseE1 moments.
