    Notes: Abstract The energy dependence of the one- and two-particle transfer reactions90Zr(16O,17O)89Zr,90Zr(16O,15N)91Nb and90Zr(16O,14C)92Mo was studied at bombarding energies of 80MeV, 138.2 MeV and 194.4 MeV. A comparison with one-step DWBA calculations shows good agreement for the one-particle transfers over the whole energy range. For the two-proton transfer reaction (16O,14C) the discrepancies between experiment and theory are large with an exponential decrease towards higher energies. Current theories are unable to describe this behavior.

    Notes: A modified method of access to the upper thoracic spine is presented based on a case report. The third and fourth thoracic vertebral bodies can be reached by partial upper sternotomy. This approach takes the local anatomic situation into account, thus avoiding the typical complications of complete sternotomy and reducing the postoperative pain. Closure was done using biodegradable sutures, achieving satisfactory stabilisation and a low rate of complications. In only 4 of 130 cases (3%) did a superficial wound infection occur. There was no case of deep infection, osteomyelitis or dehiscence of the sternum.

    Notes: Immediate presentation of the more significant X-ray pictures facilitates planning and supervision of therapy in trauma surgery and orthopedics. If a wire rope is stretched in front of the window X-ray pictures can be clipped onto it, which avoids time-consuming searches. Suspended filing boxes placed in each sickroom make appropriate storage of each patient's X-ray pictures possible. The expenditure for all this amounted to 100 DM for each two-bedded room. Wire ropes and boxes were technically easy to install with a minimum investment of time. The presentation of X-ray pictures considerably increased the patients' understanding of their illness. It was also very rare for X-ray pictures to get mixed up once this system had been instituted.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Bei chronischen Instabilitäten des oberen Sprunggelenks stellt sich die Indikation zum plastischen Bandersatz. Nach Darstellung der anatomischen Verhältnisse werden aus zahlreichen Operationsmethoden 3 beispielhafte Vertreter einer neuen Bandplastik gegenübergestellt. Die mechanischen Verhältnisse werden am Plexiglasfadenmodell demonstriert. In den einleitenden Bemerkungen werden die biomechanischen Grundlagen zur Bandplastik zusammengefasst. Es folgt dann die Demonstration des operativen Vorgehens. Es wird eine längshalbierte Peronaeus-brevis-Sehne in einen u-förmigen Bohrkanal an der distalen Fibula eingezogen. Die Bohrungen werden mit Kirschnerdrähten markiert und mit einem kannelierten Bohrer und einer eigenen Winkelbohrlehre ausgeführt. Die Enden werden am Rande der Insertionsstellen des Lig. talofibulare anterius und calcaneoîibulare fixiert, womit eine anatomische Imitation der natürlichen Bänder gelingt.
    Notes: Summary Chronic instabilities of the upper ankle joint require ligament replacement. The anatomical conditions are described, and three examples from several operation methods are compared with a new technique. The mechanical conditions are demonstrated with a model. The biomechanical elements for ligament replacement are mentioned in the preliminary comments. Then the operative procedure is demonstrated. A peroneus-brevis tendon, cut in the longitudinal direction, is inserted into a U-shaped channel at the distal fibula. The drilling sites are marked by K-wires and carried out with the help of a cannulated drilling device for angles. The ends are fixed to the lip of the insertion points of the anterior talofibula and calcaneofibular ligaments. This procedure makes it possible to simulate the natural ligaments.
