Notes: Abstract The energy dependence of the one- and two-particle transfer reactions90Zr(16O,17O)89Zr,90Zr(16O,15N)91Nb and90Zr(16O,14C)92Mo was studied at bombarding energies of 80MeV, 138.2 MeV and 194.4 MeV. A comparison with one-step DWBA calculations shows good agreement for the one-particle transfers over the whole energy range. For the two-proton transfer reaction (16O,14C) the discrepancies between experiment and theory are large with an exponential decrease towards higher energies. Current theories are unable to describe this behavior.

Notes: Immediate presentation of the more significant X-ray pictures facilitates planning and supervision of therapy in trauma surgery and orthopedics. If a wire rope is stretched in front of the window X-ray pictures can be clipped onto it, which avoids time-consuming searches. Suspended filing boxes placed in each sickroom make appropriate storage of each patient's X-ray pictures possible. The expenditure for all this amounted to 100 DM for each two-bedded room. Wire ropes and boxes were technically easy to install with a minimum investment of time. The presentation of X-ray pictures considerably increased the patients' understanding of their illness. It was also very rare for X-ray pictures to get mixed up once this system had been instituted.

Notes: Summary The principles of internal stabilization are also valid in chest wall stabilization. Because physiological load cannot be interrupted, high stability is necessary. After measurement of the dynamic force at the rib fracture in vivo and experimental fractures of cadaver ribs, a new implant was developed. With this, primary healing is possible both in the osseous and in the cartilaginous parts of the rib and sternum. This was demonstrated in animal experiments and clinical cases. The biomechanical data of ribs and some typical methods of stabilization are listed. The recommended implants restore the physiological rates of tensile strength and elasticity. Roentgenographs and histological findings demonstrate that primary healing of rib fractures is possible.

Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Aus 103 Polytraumatisierten mit Thoraxverletzung aus den Jahren 1980–1982 wurden 2 Gruppen mit je 15 konservativ and operativ behandelten Thoraxwandinstabilitaten ausgewertet. Notes: Summary In 1980–1982, 103 patients with polytrauma and flail chest were treated. Fifteen patients who had undergone surgical stabilization were compared to 15 with conservative treatment. Although the conservative group had less severe traumata the clinical results were worse:

Notes: Summary After preliminary animal experiments, we conducted a pilot study on a resorbable replacement combined with fascia lata (n = 13) or ligament of the patella, which was used as augmentation replacement in 15 patients with acute isolated rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (AC 2), acute instability of the anterior medial complex (n=2), isolated rupture of the ACL (n= 10), as well as an old instability of the anterior medial complex (n= 1). Follow-up of the patients 7 to 33 months after the operation showed, according to the criteria of Bohler and Trojan, excellent results in 5 patients, good results in 4, and fair results in 1. These results indicate that PDS should be used further to augment human materials in ligament injuries, as not only the ligaments of the knee could be replaced by its use.
