Notizen: Abstract A new system for high-speed and continuous 3D measurement is presented. It is based on the slit-ray projection method. The key component is the image plane constructed by a position-sensitive device (PSD) array that is horizontally un segmented and linear, but vertically numbered. All PSD row elements are attached to their respective analog signal processors. The analog signals are multiplexed and digitized by multiplexers and A/D converters at appropriate sampling intervals and stored in memory. By virtue of this configuration of the image plane, basis data for 3D measurement are acquired during only one scan of the slit ray at high speed in the form of memory addresses and data. Moreover, if we use large capacity and/or dual port memories, we can continuously obtain 3D range data for as many scenes as needed. The trial system has been implemented with a newly designed 128-channel PSD array and has verified our method, enabling us to obtain successive 3D range data at video rates with an error within±0.3%.

Notizen: Summary A cerebellar tumor of a 4-month-old girl was examined by light and electron microscopy. The presence of numerous synaptic vesicles in many cell processes and the occasional synaptic devices warranted the diagnosis of neuroblastoma of the cerebellum. The nature of the tumor is discussed briefly.

Notizen: Summary Classic medulloblastoma is a relatively common and distinct clinicopathologic entity consisting of primitive multipotential cells with differentiating capacity to neuroblastic and/or glial cell lines. Desmoplastic medulloblastoma has some features in common with cerebellar neuroblastoma, in which ultrastructural evidence of significant neuroblastic differentiation is extremely rare. We studied three cerebellar tumors with evidence of neuronal differentiation as compared to four classical desmoplastic medulloblastomas. Two of three tumors contained the regions of different degrees resembling desmoplastic medulloblastoma and one consisted of neuroblastic cells exclusively. This spectrum of differentiation suggests a relationship between cerebellar neuroblastoma and medulloblastoma, especially of the desmoplastic type. The nature of cerebellar neuroblastoma and its nosology are briefly discussed.

Notizen: Abstract Two cases of fetal tachycardia are reported: atrial flutter and fibrillation. The waveforms from each case were detected by fetal magnetocardiograms (FMCGs) using a 64-channel superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) system. Because the magnitude of supraventricular arrhythmia signals is very weak, two subtraction methods were used to detect the fetal MCG waveforms: subtraction of the maternal MCG signal, and subtraction of the fetal QRS complex signal. It was found that atrial-flutter waveforms showed a cyclic pattern and that atrial-fibrillation waveforms showed f-waves with a random atrial rhythm. Fast Fourier transform analysis determined the main frequency of the atrial flutter to be about 7 Hz, and the frequency distribution of atrial fibrillation consisted of small, broad peaks. To visualise the current pattern, current-arrow maps, which simplify the observation of pseudo-current patterns in fetal hearts, of the averaged atrial flutter and fibrillation waveforms were produced. The map of the atrial flutter had a circular pattern, indicating a re-entry circuit, and the map of the atrial fibrillation indicated one wavelet, which was produced by a micro-re-entry circuit. It is thus concluded that an FMCG can detect supraventricular arrhythmia, which can be characterised by re-entry circuits, in fetuses.
