Notes: Abstract Fortran 77 is the most widely used language for scientific programming. Its long-awaited revision is now called Fortran 90. It was finalized (down to the last editorial detail) on 11 April 1991, published as an ISO Standard in August 1991, and the first compiler is now on the market. This seems an appropriate moment to review its history and explain its advantages.

Notes: Abstract A variety of instruments were used to compare six groups of inpatient children: pure attention deficit disorder with hyperactivity (ADDH), pure conduct disorder (CD), pure oppositional defiant disorder (OD), ADDH+CD, and ADDH+OD, and a clinical control group who had no DBD diagnosis. Children with ADDH and CD or OD exhibited a greater degree of psychopathology. Children with CD and OD were more similar than different, indicating that perhaps a continuum of pathology exists between these diagnostic classifications.

Notes: This article discusses the development of a prototype neural network-based supervisory control system for Bacillus thuringiensis fermentations. The input pattern to the neural network included the type of inoculum, operation temperature, pH value, accumulated process time, optical density in fermentation medium, and change in optical density. The output from the neural network was the predicted optical density for the next sampling time. The control system has been implemented in both a computer simulation and a laboratory fermentation experiment with promising results. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
