Notes: Abstract A series of five cases of sacral aneurysmal bone cyst is presented. There were three females and two males, the youngest patient being 11 years old, the oldest 41 years old. All patients had pain of long duration with varying signs of nerve root compression. Three patients had micturitional problems. Four patients had a palpable mass which was tender. All had standard radiographs. Tomograms, computed tomography (CT) scans or MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) were obtained in some patients. In all patients a definite histologic diagnosis was established. Four lesions healed after resection (two cases) or curettage (two cases). One patient is considered to have a stable lesion which is not progressing.

Notes: Summary Two different experimental procedures were used to induce pancreatitis in rats: distal ligature of the common bile duct and the Pfeffer method in modification of Nevalainen. It could be shown that consumption of complement can be demonstrated even in pancreatitis induced by other than immunological models. Further examination in decomplemented rats showed the possibility of inducing acute pancreatitis by the above-mentioned models, although of less intensity. Therefore, the complement system will be an important factor for the progress and intensity of the inflammation process.

Description / Table of Contents: Infrared Spectra of Crystalline ThiocarbonatesThe crystalline thiocarbonates BaCS3, TI2CS3, PbCS3 (2 modifications) and CdCS3 were prepared and their infrared absorption spectra were recorded and investigated. By substitution of normal carbon atoms with the isotop 13C it was possible to assign all observed vibration bands and to get information about the interaction of anion vibrations in the crystal.

Description / Table of Contents: The compounds PbTiS3, PbZrS3 were prepared by reaction of PbS with the sulphides of titanium, zirconium and hafnium or by direct reaction of the elements. According to X-ray powder patterns PbTiS3 contains two formula units in a tetragonal unit cell. PbZrS3 and PbHfS3 are isotypic with each other and have probably orthorhombic structure. Great differences of the electrical conductivity and other properties between PbTiS3 and the other two compounds show that the bonding in PbTiS3 is more metallic than in PbZrS3 and PbHfS3.
