The compounds PbTiS3, PbZrS3 were prepared by reaction of PbS with the sulphides of titanium, zirconium and hafnium or by direct reaction of the elements. According to X-ray powder patterns PbTiS3 contains two formula units in a tetragonal unit cell. PbZrS3 and PbHfS3 are isotypic with each other and have probably orthorhombic structure. Great differences of the electrical conductivity and other properties between PbTiS3 and the other two compounds show that the bonding in PbTiS3 is more metallic than in PbZrS3 and PbHfS3.

Die Verbindungen PbTiS3, PbZrS3 und PbHfS3 wurden durch Reaktion der Metallsulfide oder durch Reaktion der Elemente dargestellt. Die Reaktionen führten zu kristallinen Stoffen, deren Röntgendiagramme angegeben und indiziert werden. PbZrS3 und PbHfS3 sind isotyp, unterscheiden sich aber sehr deutlich in Struktur und Eigenschaften von PbTiS3. Große Unterschiede in der elektrischen Leitfähigkeit und im Temperaturkoeffizienten der Leitfähigkeit deuten darauf hin, daß die Bindungen im PbTiS3 stärker metallischen Charakter besitzen als in den beiden anderen Verbindungen.
