Notes: Abstract The Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ system samples doped with Sn on Cu sites were synthesized. Resistivity temperature dependence, X-ray powder diffraction and photoemission experiments have been performed. Suppression of superconductivity in the Sn-doped Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ system has been observed. X-ray photoemission measurements show that Sn ion enters the lattice. Our results reveal that Sn ions are mostly in bivalent states.

Notes: Abstract The Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ system samples doped with Pr on Ca sites were synthesized. Resistivity temperature dependence, X-ray powder diffraction, and photoemission experiments have been performed. Both X-ray diffraction and photoemission measurements show that Pr ion enters the lattice with a valence higher than 3+, which supports the hole-filling mechanism of the suppression of superconductivity.

Notes: Abstract Domestic hens were injected intraperitoneally with hypertonic or isotonic saline and killed 0.5, 1, 2, 6, 12 and 24 h later. Japanese quail, Ring doves and Zebra finches were treated in the same way and killed 2 h later. Using fos immunocytochemistry, fos-positive cells were visualized in the preoptic-anterior hypothalamus. In all species, two hours after treatment with hypertonic but not with isotonic saline, a prominent cluster of fos-positive cells was seen close to the mid-line, dorsal to the anterior part of the third ventricle, in and around the nucleus commissurae pallii. The cell cluster was associated with the dorsal region of the organum vasculosum laminae terminalis and passed caudo-dorsally above the anterior commissure into the area of the subfornical organ, spreading diffusely into the nucleus septalis medialis and the nucleus dorsomedialis anterior thalami. The maximal expression of c-fos was seen 2 h after treatment with hypertonic saline: weak fos immunoreactive product was seen at 0.5, 1 h and 6 h but not after 12 and 24 h. In all birds, 2 h after treatment with hypertonic but not with isotonic saline, fos-positive cells were also seen in the nucleus paraventricularis and nucleus supraopticus. Double immunocytochemistry in the domestic hen with an antibody to vasotocin showed that these fos-positive cells were classical magnocellular vasotocinergic neurones. This study extends earlier studies in birds using lesioning and electrophysiological techniques to identify the precise cellular localization of the avian “osmoreceptive complex” projected onto a stereotaxic atlas.

The experiment results show that Pr ions entered the lattice and chemical environment plays a major role in the shift of core-level spectra and valence-band spectra.

Notes: This study shows that fast atom bombardment (FAB) in combination with collisional activation and tandem mass spectrometric techniques is useful for the characterization of, and the differentiation between, O-diglycosyl, O-C- diglycosyl, and di-C-glycosyl flavonoids. A quick differentiation between the three types of glycosyl flavonoids is possible by simply examining FAB mass spectra. Low-energy product ion spectra of [M + H] + ions have been used for determining the carbohydrate sequence in O-diglycosyl flavonoids and characterizing the terminal mono-saccharide in O-C-diglycosyl flavonoids. The data obtained for per-O- deuterated precursor ion species of O-diglycosyl flavonoids indicate that O-linked hydrogen atoms are involved in the formation of Yn + ions. High-energy product ion spectra of [M + H] + ions enable further characterization and differentiation of isomeric di-6,8-C-glycosides.

Notes: The present study deals with the use of liquid secondary ion mass spectrometry in combination with collisionally activated dissociation and linked scanning at constant B/E for differentiation and structural analysis of 6-C- and 8-C-glycosidic flavonoids in the positive ion mode. Flavonoids of mono-C-glycosidic nature were investigated. Special emphasis is given to the rationalization of fragment ions which allow differentiation between isomers.
