Notes: Summary Acute leukemia, hepatocellular carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma have been reported in patients with Fanconi's anemia. We report on a 31-year-old woman who developed squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus and hepatocellular carcinoma. Jaundice and hepatic tumor developed in 1981, after she had received oxymetholone for 10 years. Liver biopsy revealed peliosis hepatis. Androgenic therapy was stopped and the jaundice resolved. However, the hepatic tumor was observed to be unchanged. The patient died of disseminated squamous cell carcinoma, but no metastatic lesions from hepatocellular carcinoma were detected in the autopsy. The association of Fanconi's anemia and squamous cell carcinoma is reviewed, and the malignant potential of androgen-related hepatic tumors is discussed.

Notes: Abstract Two series of experiments were performed in cats in which 80 Μg of atropine in 5 Μl were injected into the head of both caudate nuclei. In order to obtain a reward (a constant amount of milk) the first group of Ss learned to walk a distance of 75 cm after the delivery of 4 flashes, while the second group learned to press a lever. Both tasks were significantly impaired (P〈0.05) after atropine injection. The motor reflex response as well as hunger motivation were not modified by the substance. A caudate-cholinergic mechanism involved in the maintenance of motor conditioned responses is proposed.

Notes: Abstract Monitoring of the near-nucleus activity of C/1995 O1 (Hale-Bopp) began in Teide Observatory in August 1995. During 1996 the comet was observed on 72 nights between March 26 and November 13. A permanent fan structure was observed towards the north during the whole period of observation. The position angle of the axis of this fan was measured and its variations with time were used to determine the position of the North Pole of the cometary nucleus.
