Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Summary Acute osteitis after osteosynthesis of closed or open fractures must be immediately surgically revised. Metal implants not stabilizing the fracture or interfering with the revascularization of the infected area must be removed. Restabilization should be done using external fixation, this is possible without using metal implants incorporated in the infected area. External fixation should be used for a period of at least 3 months. Thereafter, if possible, functional treatment should be used.
