Notes: Studies of conductivity, freezing point depression and pH indicate the existence of the complex compounds K2[CdBr4] and K2[CdI4] in the systems: CdBr2—KBr—H2O and CdI2—KI—H2O respectively.Negative values of transference number of cadmium ion and the marked deviations of conductance from the additivity observed in the system: CdI2—KI—H2O, show that the complex K2[CdI4] indicated by the physico-chemical properties is quite stable.

Notes: From studies of freezing point depression, conductivity, pH and viscosity of the system HgBr2 - KBr - H2O it has been concluded that the compound K2HgBr4 is alone formed in the above system. Probably an unstable compound KHgBr3 also exists.

Description / Table of Contents: Wasserfreies Hydrazin und Phenylhydrazin reagieren mit Zinn(IV)-bromid und -jodid in verdünnter HCCl3- order C6H6-Lösung zu Produkten folgender empirischer Zusammensetzung: Br3SnN2H3 (I), SnBr4 · 6 N2H4 (II), Br3SnNHNHC6H5 (III), SnBr4 · 4 C6H5N2H3 (IV), SnJ4 · 8 N2H4 (V) und SnJ4 · 8 C6H5N2H3.
Notes: Anhydrous hydrazine and phenylhydrazine react with tin(IV) bromide and iodide in dilute chloroform or benzene solutions to form products of empirical compositions Br3SnN2H3 (I), SnBr4 · 6 N2H4 (II), Br3SnC6H5NHNH (III), SnBr4 · 4 C6H5NHNH2 (IV), SnI4 · 8 N2H4 (V) and SnI4 · 8 C6H5NHNH2 (VI). Of these I and III are pure compounds, the others II, IV to VI are mixture of (Hydrazino or phenylhydrazino) basic tin(IV) halides and base hydrohalide. I and III give with pyridine adducts, Br3SnN2H3 · C5H5N (VII) and Br3SnC6H5NHNH · C5H5N (VIII). The thermal decomposition and infrared spectra of some of the reaction products have been studied.

Description / Table of Contents: Aus konduktometrischen, elektrometrischen und kryoskopischen Messungen an den Systemen HgJ2—KCN—H2O und Hg(CN)2—KJ—H2O wird auf die Existenz folgender Komplexe in Lösung geschlossen: KHg(CN)2J (I), K2Hg(CN)2J2 (II), K2Hg(CN)4 (III).I und III ließen sich isolieren.
Notes: Conductometric, electrometric and cryoscopic measurements of the systems: HgI2—KCN—H2O and Hg(CN)2—KI—H2O indicate the existence of the following complexes in solution: KHg(CN)2I, K2Hg(CN)2I2 and K2Hg(CN)4. Out of these, the first and the last complex have actually been isolated. The fact that from the systems: HgI2—2 KCN and Hg(CN)2—2 KI, the complex KHg(CN)2I gets crystallized, suggests that the complex K2Hg(CN)2I2 indicated by physicochemical measurements is unstable and gets converted into the more stable complex KHg(CN)2I during the process of crystallization. Some indication for the existence of the complex KHgI2CN has also been obtained. A modified method for the estimation of iodide in the presence of cyanide has been worked out.

Notes: The formation of iron(III)-complexes with some phenolic acids viz. 1-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid, sulpho-p-cresotic acid and acetyl-p-cresotic acid has been investigated spectrophotometrically by JOB's method of continuous variation. The composition of violet coloured complex in each system was found to be 1:1. From spectrophotometric data the values of the formation constant for the 1:1 complex ions viz. (Fe-1-hydroxy-2-naphthoate)+ (Fe-sulfo-p-cresotate)+ and (Fe-acetyl-p-cresotate)+ have been calculated which work out to be 1.25 · 102, 1.06 · 102 and 4.64 · 102 respectively.

Description / Table of Contents: Darstellung und Eigenschaften von Additionsverbindungen des SnCl4 mit N, N-Dimethylformamid, Acetamid, Acetanilid und Benzamid werden mitgeteilt.
Notes: The molecular addition compounds of tin (iv) chloride with N, N-dimethyl formamide, acetamide, acetanilide, and benzamide have been prepared. They are of the type SnCl4 · 2 amide. This composition type has been confirmed by indicator titrations of stannic chloride against amides in dichloroethane. Conductivity measurements in nitromethane and molecular weight determinations show that they are true molecular addition compounds being monomeric. The infrared spectra of the adducts show that there are metal-to-oxygen bonds in all these compounds as is evidenced by a negative shift of the carbonyl stretching frequency and a positive shift of the C—N stretching frequency. The relative donor ability of the amides towards stannic chloride has been found to be: dimethyl formamide 〉 benzamide 〉 acetanilide 〉 acetamide.
